The plate and the bowl are both made from ceramic and each have a soft blue band around the rim. The bowls rim also has the words 'What are little boys made of? Slugs and Snails and puppy dog tails! In a soft black colour. The plate has the same wording within the base however there are some extra words which include That's what little boys are made of! Both the bowl and the plate also have lovely drawing style traditional designs, within the plate there is a little boy building a sand castle with his dog watching and the bowl has a little boy playing and picking up a ball. Both the plate and the bowl due to being made from ceramic are safe to use in the dishwasher and microwave. Also included within the set is a child’s fork and spoon, both of these have ceramic handles, the fork has the words 'Slugs and Snails! And the spoon has 'Puppy Dog tails!’ Unfortunately due to the metal on these two products they are not recommending for the microwave or dishwasher but to be hand washed only.
