Give your fantasies free rein as you go back in time and experience the thrill of open cockpit flying in a classic biplane! During your visit, a briefing will be followed by your dramatic flight. Depending on the location, you can take the controls in a trial lesson under the guidance of an expert instructor, or you can take a pleasure flight as your pilot puts the plane through its paces.
- Briefing from a CAA licensed instructor
- Depending on the location, the flight is either a trial lesson where you have the opportunity to take the controls, or a pleasure flight
- The length of flight, type of aircraft and type of flight depend on location
- Allow 1 hour for your visit which will include a flight of 15-25 minutes.

What happens on the day:
When you arrive, you will be issued with any necessary protective clothing (sometimes this is a leather helmet and goggles). You will then be briefed by your instructor before the flight. If you are taking a Trial Lesson you will have the opportunity to take the controls and fly the plane. If you are taking a Pleasure Flight, you will be ‘chauffeured’ as a passenger in the aircraft as the professional pilot puts the plane through its paces.
Need to know:
- Minimum age 12-16 depending on location (under 18’s need parental/guardian consent)
- You should be in reasonable health and agile enough to climb into the aircraft.
- Maximum height 6’4”–7’ (193cms-213cms) depending on location and max weight 15-20 stones (95kgs-127kgs) depending on location
