The paperweight is a half-moon glass shape and is handmade and finished by Goebel with a fabulous abstract style design by Gustav Klimt who is an Austrian artist born in 1862 and was the leader of the Vienna Secession which was a group of Austrian artists and architects influenced by the Art Nouveau movement in France. His influences were from the flat, curving lines with rich patterned images which were popular in the turn-of-the-century French art and design. Klimt used his unique style which contains realism, sensuality, and spirituality and set his style apart with his own signature look. Klimt's "The Kiss" reflects his interest in mosaics and his love for jewel tones, gold and enamel.
