Blank rhinos are very much an endangered creature. Presently there are 2,300 due to a 97% reduction in population between 1970 and 1992 when poaching for horns was at its peak. The Rhino horn is used for medicinal purposes in Asia along with dagger handles in the Middle East.
Orphaned blank rhinos are brought to back to Kenya's Nairobi National Park, where carers from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust look after them by acting as surrogate mothers-feeding bottles of milk, tucking them in at night and taking them out for walks during the day.
