Clever ways to deliver your Valentines Day card and gift

Hopefully you'll be looking forward to Valentines Day and will have thought about to whom you'll send a Valentine and what it is that you'll be sending them. However with so much thought and effort having gone into you card and gift you should perhaps think about a clever way to deliver them to your Valentine. Don't be fooled into thinking that you can just hand over your gift when you see your date in the evening; thinking up of an imaginative way to say I love you before hand will mean your evening will be off to a flying start before it's even begun! There are a few ideas here to get you started on thinking of your own unique way to deliver you card and gift.

Snail mail

Using what is now call snail mail – our regular postal service – might be a better way to send your Valentine than you think. So many of us now communicate via email or using our mobile phones, that the post often bring little else other than a few bank statements and bills. Receiving a card or present in the mail will be sure to brighten your Valentines morning. The Post Office even has special Valentines Day stamps to buy so your card can look the part! You could even arrange to have your gift or flowers sent to your Valentine, especially if your gift is some new lingerie or an item of clothing you'd like them to wear when you see them that evening.

The internet and technology

If you didn't make it to the shops in time or you find yourself chained to your computer then you could send an electronic greeting card. This might be something you could do in addition to sending a paper card as it's always nice to have something 'real' to remind you of the day. You could send your electronic greeting to your Valentines work email to make their day extra special, or you could send them naughty little messages to their inbox throughout the day in anticipation of your evening together. If you'd like to remain anonymous then think about setting up an email address from which to send your electronic greeting. Try and use a nick name that gives your Valentine a clue as to who it may be, you don't want them to be so puzzled by the anonymity of your greeting that they have to dismiss it all together.

If you want to send a Valentines Day gift then you can use the internet for this too. You can buy most things online now and it's often a good way to ensure you can get exactly what you want and in the correct size. There is nothing worse than finding something you like in the store and not being able to get the item in the size you need; if you go to the store's website you should be able to order things from their main warehouse. Some internet sites even have a 'blame it on us' feature, so if you've forgotten to get you gift ready you can order it and they will take the blame claiming the item was out of stock or there were delivery problems!

The range of gifts available for Valentines Day is huge so there is no excuse for not being able to surprise your partner with that perfect gift. You can find anything from simple Valentines Day mugs and photograph frames to more extravagant items such as romantically inspired statues and special gift boxes. You could even buy a personalised gift such as a poem, box of chocolates or even a specially named rose bush.

Technology can have its romantic uses too! You could use your mobile phone to send your loved one naughty or romantic texts throughout the day. You could even use some passionate lines from your favourite song or find an extract from a poem or book.

That personal touch

If you would like to make your greeting very personal then hand deliver your Valentine. There are countless places you could leave your card or gift to surprise your loved one. If you live together you could leave it under their pillow or in the pocket of their dressing gown, even in unusual places such as their favourite cereal bowl! You could even slip your card under the windscreen wiper of their car. Try and find a place that you Valentine would know only you had access to.

If you are feeling especially adventurous you could ask a friend, or better still, hire a professional to deliver a singing telegram! This could be a fun way to express your feelings that your loved one will never forget. However tread carefully, make sure your partner won't be too embarrassed, and make sure things are done tastefully, especially if you send the telegram to the workplace (no singing strippers or kiss--o--grams!). You wouldn't want your Valentine to end up in trouble with the boss.

Just to say I love you

If you simply want to say 'I love you' on Valentines Day then be creative, have your favourite chocolate shop write the saying on a delicious slab of chocolate or make up the words with the letters written on individual pieces. Buy 8 roses and stick a letter on each so that they spell out I love you, or write the phrase out using rose petals for that extra romantic touch. You could learn how to say the phrase in a few different languages, or make little love notes and stash them in secret places where your Valentine will find them throughout the day.

If all else fails just simply tell them that you love them by whispering it in their ear. Sometimes such precious words need no dressing up
